Celebrating the brand’s acclaimed Six Pillars, The Macallan M Collection is a new range of limited-release single malt whiskies. The first three expressions are the 2022 editions of the previously released M and M Black, plus the brand-new M Copper, which pays tribute to the unique copper stills utilised by The Macallan since its inception in 1824.
The Macallan M 2022 Release
M has a natural colour, a result of the finest, 100% natural ingredients and exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks. It is a rare spirit epitomising transparency, the clear whisky’s unusual hue honestly emphasised through its handcrafted Lalique crystal decanter. M’s full-flavoured character features notes of chocolate, herbal licorice, creme anglaise, rich dried fruit and wood spice, a nose of sweet black cherry, demerara sugar, polished oak, leather and vanilla and an ABV of 45%.
The Macallan M Black 2022 Release
Reflecting The Macallan’s dedication to Mastery and unwavering trust in its craft, rare, black-ended casks holding peated spirits were chosen to create this unique expression. The colour is complemented by a Lalique black crystal decanter mirroring the peat smoke within the whisky. A gently smoky expression, it displays a rich natural colour of golden sunrise and is a harmonious balance of The Macallan’s classic character with an unexpected peated note, resulting in a complex single malt to savour. Dried and fresh fruits, honeyed fig and spiced ginger can also be detected in the 46% blend.

The Macallan M Copper 2022 Release
An ode to the Curiously Small Spirit Stills that remain key to crafting The Macallan’s precious spirit to this day, this blend is an entirely fresh departure for the distillery. Marking the momentous move in the industry to copper stills, the natural spun gold colour of this whisky acts as a homage to the liquor’s history. Vibrant and elegant, the flavours created in the stills come to the fore, with a buttery, viscous mouth coating, that’s bursting in fruitiness with a hint of sweet malty and marshmallow flavour. It’s bottled in a handcrafted Lalique copper-coloured crystal decanter, with an ABV of 42%.
The Six Pillars
These are the foundation stones that account for The Macallan’s distinctive and exceptional whiskies: Natural Colour, Mastery, Curiously Small Spirit Stills, The Estate, Exceptional Oak Casks and Sherry Seasoning. The whiskies’ decanters have been created in collaboration with renowned creative director, Fabien Baron and French crystal maker Lalique. Envisioned by Baron, they have six facets and are encased in outer packaging (also denoting the Six Pillars) that’s sustainably sourced in Scotland.

A creative vision of Scotland
The award-winning distillery has also collaborated with renowned luxury fashion photographer and creative visionary Nick Knight, to create a series of photography and film in his signature abstract and expressionistic style. Knight’s imagery captures the collection in blocks of ice as a homage to The Macallan’s intrinsic connection to nature and the River Spey which runs through The Macallan Estate.
For each 70cl decanter, The Macallan M 2022 Release has an RRSP £5,000, The Macallan M Black 2022 Release has an RRSP of £5,700 and The Macallan M Copper 2022 Release has an RRSP of £6,250. All are available at Harrods, The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Master of Malt.
