Marty Hotel Bordeaux, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, opened in April 2023 and offers a hip boutique experience in Bordeaux’s revitalised Mériadeck district. The hotel’s name, “Marty,” cleverly combines the local neighbourhood, Mériadeck (“M”), with an artistic vibe (“arty”). Stepping into the lobby feels like entering a lively art gallery, featuring paintings and pieces by contemporary French artists, curated by Nell Caritey-Hergué, founder of the Breton gallery L’Artillerie. The hotel even features a rotating exhibition of street art, in its stairwell, with many of the artworks available for purchase.
Located in a building that was also previously a hotel the property has been fully renovated, transforming it to this beautiful boutique property. Marty is part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection—a collection of independent, upscale hotels that maintain Hilton’s renowned quality and attention to detail. Managed by Younight Hospitality, a French company known for its modern, contemporary approach the hotel is part of a portfolio of stylish accommodations across the country.
Located In The Heart of Mériadeck
Situated in the heart of Mériadeck, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and revitalised commercial district, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from Hotel de Ville, Tour Pey-Berland, Cathédrale-Primatiale Saint-André, and just minutes from the Grand Théâtre and Saint-Jean train station. Transport options include a nearby Bordeaux tram stop while Mériadeck’s quiet streets are becoming livelier with the addition of trendy hotels and restaurants (Madam B which is a one-minute walk away is worth a visit).
The area also includes the Mériadeck shopping mall, and the Chartreuse Cemetery and while you are in Bordeaux make sure you visit the Grădina Botanică. For reference, the hotel has plenty of onsite secure parking and EV chargers too.
Guest Rooms and Terraces
61 rooms in the hotel range from Queen to King Deluxe, with a Twin Deluxe option also available. If you are looking for extra space and an outdoor area, the King Deluxe offers a private terrace. The interior design features burnt orange or army green wood-panelled walls and midcentury furniture, including rattan chairs and globe light lamps, creating a vintage atmosphere. Beds are complemented by Gervasoni upholstered headboards. While not for sale, contemporary pop art decorates the walls, alongside large-screen televisions. The bathrooms are equipped with rainfall showers and toiletries from Soin de Soi, a natural, artisanal cosmetic and beauty company from Bordeaux.
Our Room
During our time at Marty’s, we stayed in one of their Terrace King Rooms which are located at the back of the property in a separate building. Set across two floors the ground floor presents larger terraces while the upper floor rooms offer a balcony.
Food & Drink
There isn’t a restaurant onsite instead the property features a grand bar in the lobby adorned with chandeliers, serving as the central hub throughout the day and evening. The décor blends classical wood, steel, and concrete industrial elements with bright colours, vintage furniture, and multi-textured fabrics alongside an array of contemporary art that is for sale.
From dawn to dusk, Marty offers cuisine deeply rooted in the Bordeaux terroir. In the early morning, a delicious buffet filled with fine, fresh products is available.
As the workday ends indulge in a glass of wine or cocktail with wine coming from local villages like Margaux and Saint-Emilion, highlighting its location in France’s renowned wine region. The cocktail menu includes signature drinks like the “Marty” (Citadelle Gin, Lillet Blanc, Timur Bay cordial), classics, and seasonal creations, we opted for classic Margarita’s which are served with a rim dusted in chilli salt.
The bar also offers a succinct menu of shareable plates, including street food bites like vegetarian bao with soy-marinated eggplant and duck confit spring rolls. The cheese board surpasses typical charcuterie platters, featuring brie with espelette pepper, cured ham, and blue cheese topped with pea shoots.
Final Thoughts
Marty’s is a fun fresh and youthful hotel with friendly staff and high-quality guest rooms. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to get a great night’s sleep slightly away from the main throng of Bordeaux but still within an easy ten-minute walk to lots of bars, restaurants and shops Marty’s is the place to be.
