Page Hotels have been designed with Urban Explorers in mind and the offering perfectly delivers to this type of guest. Page Hotels currently have a presence in London (Page8) and Hong Kong (Page148). Page8 London presents an extremely comfortable base, with all the in-room facilities a modern-day traveller would expect. A complimentary minibar is available for Superior Double, Deluxe Double, Junior Suite & Family Rooms room categories.
Cleanliness of the room was to one of the highest standards I’ve ever noted and the décor albeit minimalist was tasteful; with a rich blue colour creating a striking contrast against the white walls of the room and bronze accents of the furniture. The colour contrast flowed throughout the room with soft furnishings such as the window seat, headboards, cushions and studded leather desk chair.
A retro radio, with a Page8 playlist available via a QR code, and retro telephone shouldered each side of the bed each of which sat on of the matching traveller-trunk style bedside tables.
The marble-finished bathroom didn’t have a bath but a spacious and powerful walk-in shower was more than adequate, with fragrant CO Bigelow (the oldest apothecary in America) bathroom amenities. Bathrobes and slippers were at the ready for me to relax in.
The hotel groups commitment to sustainability was evident throughout the room, with little (unobtrusive) reminders as to how guests can help support this global issue during their stay, I loved the complimentary eco-friendly bathroom toiletries too, which were presented in a funky and sturdy recycled bag.
The Urban Explorer Series is an editorial publication that further reinforces the Urban Explorer proposition. Found in my room, the understated cover unfolds to present a super guide giving the inside-track on the best places to see, things to do, places to eat, off-the-beaten track walks and lots more, from Londoner’s and is a brilliant way to impart local knowledge to the hotel’s guests. We love how the edition we received also included interviews with the founders of London based businesses the hotel partners with such as Good & Proper Tea (stocked as part of the complimentary in-room refreshments).
Breakfast was not included in my stay but the funky Page Common space was the ideal place to enjoy a coffee and a pastry (there is a more extensive breakfast menu but I have a sweet tooth I couldn’t resist the cinnamon buns!) and fire up my laptop to catch up on a bit of work. Wine and local beers can also be enjoyed throughout the day in Page Common.
For guests not wanting to venture too far-afield the upscale Japanese restaurant, Bisushima is right next door and Page8 guests can enjoy a cheeky little discount if they show their key card.
Everything about my stay here was just easy and the team were super friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. If you want a relaxed place to rest your head whilst you make the most of the city this is the spot for you.
