The Caledonian Hotel Unveils Multi-million-pound Transformation And Rebrand to the Curio Collection

Edinburgh’s iconic Caledonian hotel, steeped in 120 years of history, is poised for an extraordinary makeover. Henderson Park, a private real estate investment fund manager, along with Klarent Hospitality, its in-house hospitality operator and asset manager, has unveiled plans for a multi-million-pound renovation, heralding a new era for the esteemed establishment.

Acquiring the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, fondly known as ‘The Caley’, in July 2023, Henderson Park and Klarent Hospitality have outlined ambitious investment strategies exceeding £35 million. These funds will be channelled into enhancing infrastructure, revamping bedrooms, and rejuvenating public spaces to elevate the overall guest experience. By early 2026, the hotel is slated to expand its footprint to over 300 rooms, solidifying its stature as one of Edinburgh’s premier hospitality destinations.

This summer, the flagship Edinburgh hotel will join the prestigious Curio Collection by Hilton, aligning itself with a global network of distinctive lifestyle hotels renowned for their individuality and charm. Embracing the ethos of Curio Collection, The Caledonian will showcase the unique essence of Edinburgh, offering bespoke experiences curated around the city’s rich heritage and culture.

Originally commissioned by the Caledonian Railway Company and completed between 1899 and 1908, The Caledonian draws inspiration from the historic crests of Edinburgh, Stirling, and Inverness. Retaining its architectural marvels such as the iconic stained-glass windows, the hotel’s redesign aims to weave captivating narratives into every corner, promising unforgettable experiences for generations to come.
