The Rosewood Villa Magna hotel has reopened its doors after undergoing an intense renovation for the enjoyment of both travellers and locals alike. This historic treasure located on Madrid’s most coveted boulevard is reborn as the capital’s leading luxury hotel. Located between the distinguished Salamanca neighbourhood and Paseo de la Castellana number 22, Rosewood Villa Magna is writing a new chapter in its story with the international hotel group Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.
The Rosewood Villa Magna is located in an unbeatable setting, an enclave for shopping, business, gastronomy and art. With easy access to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Reina Sofia Museum and the so-called ”Landscape of Light” (of El Prado and El Retiro), declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ever since the hotel closed its doors on March 2020, a team of prestigious professionals has worked on completely refurbishing it, in order to achieve a delicate balance between the emblematic 1972 Villa Magna and the more modernized hotel transformation, which today emerges as an elegant and renewed spirit, recovering the city’s tradition and the unmistakable seal of Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.
“I am tremendously proud to welcome Rosewood Villa Magna Hotel to the Rosewood family, and as our first property in Spain,” says Radha Arora, President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®.
This ambitious project recalls Villa Magna’s past with a look at its predecessor, El Palacio de Anglada, a 19th century building, yet maintains the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts
concept, in which each property reflects the history, culture and sensibility of its location. The image of Rosewood Villa Magna reflects the collective work of four internationally renowned studios.
Renowned Spanish architect Ramón de Arana has been commissioned to remodel the striking façade and pedestrian access to the building, and landscape architect Gregorio Marañón has been apointed the man in charge of restoring the vegetation and gardens in this new phase. Bar Studio has designed the interio, while the English firm ArtLink has selected the art collection for the common areas and the suites, which intermingle pieces of Spanish art and the history of fashion.
Residential-style rooms and exclusive suites
Rosewood Villa Magna’s 154 rooms embody the hotel’s refined, residential style with 101 rooms and 53 suites elegantly decorated with bespoke furniture and carefully selected art pieces.
The hotel’s 4 Signature Suites are the jewels in Rosewood Villa Magna’s crown, and are among the most exclusive accommodations in the city. Salamanca House boasts a stunning terrace with exceptional views over the heart of Madrid. Anglada House, the hotel’s largest suite, can be combined with adjacent rooms to form a wonderful luxury penthouse. The Cedros House is characterised by its warm natural light with different windows that allow you to enjoy the privileged location, spacious living and dining room, 2 bedrooms with their respective bathrooms and a guest toilet. Finally, the Castellana Suite stands out, due to its comfortable and cosy nature with an impressive view of the Paseo de la Castellana.
Sense a Rosewood Spa
Rosewood reinvents the spa concept in its ´Sense a Rosewood Spa´, a temple of style and tranquillity. This small universe where only the sound of water is heard, is based on the Rosewood brand philosophy: “Sense of place”, based on the principle of incorporating carefully selected ingredients and remedies. “Sense of individuality”, a personalised approach to tailoring experiences. “Sense of balance”, which combines wellness and beauty for the harmony of body and mind.
The space has four therapeutic cabins (one of them double), a relaxation room, sauna, jacuzzi and an authentic Turkish marble hammam. There is also a fitness centre with state-of-the-art training equipment. Sense a Rosewood Spa works with exclusive beauty and wellness brands such as Evidens de Beauté, Ayuna and Ground, with special treatments for the face, body and massages.
