NH Hotel Group has opened its second hotel in the Czech capital under its premium NH Collection brand, the NH Collection Prague Carlo IV. Following the brand philosophy, it combines regional authenticity with outstanding architecture and an exceptional location just ten minutes on foot from the city centre, with its numerous sights around the Old Town Square.
The heart of the hotel, which has 152 elegant rooms and suites, is the imposing 19th century entrance hall where the stucco ceiling and restored fresco paintings create a stately atmosphere. The lobby café invites guests to have breakfast and linger with live music and 24-hour service. In the evening, food lovers get to tickle their taste buds in the Inn Ox restaurant which serves a rich menu of local and European dishes with cosmopolitan flair, before ending the day in the exclusive The Vault Bar. In addition, the hotel has several conference and event rooms, a fitness studio, a spa area with sauna and steam baths and a pool.

Guests at the NH Collection Prague Carlo IV can delve deep into Prague’s history. The building, in Neo-Renaissance style, dates back to 1895 and once housed the Czech savings and credit bank. It later became the headquarters of the post office before, in 2003, Italian architects Marurizio Papiri and Adam T. Tihany converted it into a luxurious hotel and added a contemporary extension. The rooms in the historic part of the building are characterised by high ceilings, antique furniture and original works of art, while those in the new wing are modern and individually furnished. The Vault Bar is also a reminder of the building’s past. It is in the bank’s former treasury from 1910 and the safe is still fully functional.
Overnight prices start at €100 for two people in a superior room. Bookings can be made via the website www.nh-collection.com.
