Jawbox Gin has unveiled the world’s largest bottle of gin at the luxurious Observatory Bar in The Grand Central Hotel, Belfast (included in our best cocktail bars Belfast guide).
Standing 73cm tall and containing 32 litres (46 standard bottles) the ‘Jawbox Giant’s Edition’ bottle is a huge version of the brand’s Export Strength gin.
The name and inspiration comes from Jonathan Swift’s well-known tale, Gulliver’s Travels, in which the writer was said to have been inspired by the sight of the Belfast Hills, which he felt resembled a sleeping giant safeguarding the city. The same hills where Black Mountain heather is gathered to make Jawbox Gin.
Along with the new bottle a delectable G & Tea has been created at the hotel to celebrate the occasion with a selection of delicate sandwiches, scones and sweet treats inspired by the botanicals and flavours of Jawbox Gin. Guests can also sit back, relax and take in the stunning views overlooking the city whilst enjoying the new Jonathan’s Twist Cocktail, served using the gin from this giant bottle.
Founder of Jawbox Small Batch Gin, Gerry White said: “We are thrilled to launch the Jawbox Giant’s Edition. Our brand is inspired by the magnificent industrial era when ordinary men and women put Belfast on the map for hard graft and craft. Jawbox Export Strength is a modern expression of this uncompromising character, a character that will once again bring the hospitality industry back to the giant it was pre-lockdown.
The higher strength liquid is a more intense expression of Jawbox Small Batch Gin and is perfect for cocktails. We really wanted to create some theatre around the bottle and this huge edition with a sleek matt black finish and gold foil accented label certainly does that.”
The Jawbox Giant’s Edition is on display at the Observatory Bar in The Grand Central Hotel, Belfast and the Afternoon Tea can be booked 24 hours in advance via the hotel’s website.
