The Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest working distillery, has unveiled an extraordinary collaboration that marries the worlds of classic automobiles and fine whisky. This new partnership with Jaguar Classic marks a significant milestone—the 70th anniversary of the iconic Jaguar C-Type, a vehicle that redefined motorsport history. To commemorate this occasion, The Glenturret has released a limited edition single malt that encapsulates the spirit of innovation and excellence that both brands embody.
On the 22nd of February, 2024, Crieff became the epicentre of celebration as The Glenturret announced the launch of this exclusive whisky, limited to just 220 bottles. This number is an homage to the C-Type’s total horsepower, highlighting the intricate links between the drink and the machine it celebrates. The collaboration between The Glenturret and Jaguar Classic is not new, but this release marks their second partnership, emphasizing a continued commitment to celebrating heritage and pioneering achievements.
The Jaguar C-Type, known for its remarkable triumphs in the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans, introduced disc brakes to the world, setting a new average speed record and firmly establishing its legacy in motorsport history. In honour of the 70th anniversary of this landmark, Jaguar Classic revealed two exclusive C-type Continuations as part of their Continuation programme, each featuring unique specifications that echo the craftsmanship and history of the original models.
Celebrate a Decade of Luxury at The Glenturret with The Luxury Editor
Crafted by Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno, the liquid within each bottle has matured for a minimum of 32 years, drawn from a selection of five casks. This blend is a testament to The Glenturret’s expertise, showcasing the influence of Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads and a single Pedro Ximenez sherry-seasoned American Oak hogshead. The result is a symphony of flavours, from rich fruits and aromatic spices to sweet vanilla and light oak, achieving a harmonious balance that elevates the whisky to new heights.
The tasting notes of this limited edition single malt speak to the complex and refined palate it offers. Sweet ginger and cinnamon give way to treacle, sultanas, ripening apple with vanilla, and subtle oak. Wood spices open the profile, followed by sticky ginger cake, dates, and raisins, with light traces of liquorice and sweet aromatic notes emerging later. The finish is medium to long, sweet, fruity, and aromatic, all encased in soft maturing oak.
At 42.3% ABV, natural in colour and non-chill filtered, this whisky is a celebration of both tradition and innovation. Priced at £2,200.00, the 70cl bottles are available exclusively on The Glenturret’s official website, offering whisky aficionados and Jaguar enthusiasts alike a rare opportunity to own a piece of history.
